New Activities

  • Studies of Optical Properties of Biological Tissue. Can the optical properties be determined non-invasively? Can we determine the health of tissue non-invasively?

  • The Student Polarimeter Aerosol Cloud Experiment (SPACE). (Proposal to NASA in collaboration with NASA/GISS.)The SPACE mission will measure radiance degree of polarization in nine spectral bands to provide scattering properties of clouds and aerosols.

  • Remote Sensing Studies of Water Quality in New York-New Jersey Area. (Proposal to NASA in collaboration with NJIT.); Use of hyper-spectral data for determination of water quality;simultaneous retrieval of chlorophyll concentration, suspended matter and dissolved organic matter from sensors deployed on aircraft or satellites.

  • Non-Invasive Detection of Material Properties Using Acoustic Techniques. Crystal impurities or defects in solids and/or amorphous media objects imbedded in scattering and absorbing media.
